This outfit has been one of my go-to winter outfits. Cozy oversized sweater, Paige jeans (distressed when I can handle the little bit of cold getting through!), pop of color with my J.Crew cobalt jacket, and now, my Rebecca Minkoff bag.

I wore this this past weekend to head up to Charlottesville for the day and since it was going to 50 degrees (!), I slipped on my lace-up flats as well. These Christian Siriano for Payless version are a fun and cheap option, but I’ve also linked up a few other versions below. I have my eye on the light pink studded ones for spring!

This sweater is one of my favorite items in my closet–the mix of red in the front + tan in the back, the side button detail, the high/low hem–its definitely a great versatile item to keep me going through this winter.

I paired it here with a plaid Old Navy scarf, black booties, and another one of my fav pieces–this Gorjana disc necklace. I actually received this necklace as an add-on free item for spending a certain amount at Birchbox a few years ago which still amazes me since it was originally over $100!

This snow, though, can seriously go away. We had a glorious weekend of unseasonable spring like temperatures which was amazing, but its going to make it even harder as it gets back to way below freezing yet again!

After seeing pretty much everyone wearing some version of these duck boots for the past few months, I finally decided to see what all of the hype was about. Plus, since I grew up with relatively mild weather, I still didn’t really have any good winter boots that I felt comfortable wearing when it was muddy/wet/snowy out. So I took the plunge and ordered a pair from Athleta, knowing I could always return them if needed.

Now, I’ve been wearing these duck boots for about a month now, and they are quickly becoming a closet staple. They are a bit heavy, but super warm and totally insulated and water proof–exactly what I needed.

I’ve been wearing them often, as I did this day, as my “commuter shoe” and then changing into something else once I reach an inside destination I’ll be staying in for awhile. They are a bit pricey, but for such a practical shoe and a shoe I don’t see replacing for a long time to come, totally worth it.

I suppose the title of this post may be a bit misleading because I think that no matter how appropriate and covered this look is, it probably still depends on your particular office if you think it would be appropriate or not. Crop tops are definitely not for every place and time!

This particular crop top is a mix of tweed and a faux leather strip on the back. I purchased it on super sale at Banana Republic‘s after Christmas sale, one of my favorite times to shop at Banana since they usually over an additional 60% off sale items.

I honestly wouldn’t have thought to pair it with a classic button-up shirt underneath but when I looked it up on Banana’s website, I saw that that was how they had styled the model and I sort of fell in love with the look. Even when I purchase items in store, online reviews + images are still one of my favorite ways to get inspiration for a new piece.

I also recently wore this top on New Year’s paired with my fav faux leather black leggings for a night out look. It’s definitely a fun piece to play with!

I’ve had my eye on a tulle skirt for such a long time and so when my parents gave me this sparkly grey LC Lauren Conrad for Kohls one for Christmas, I was super excited to start styling/wearing it. There’s just something about it that combines little girl dress up with grown-up real life that I just love!

Since the holidays are over, I didn’t want to completely overdo the sparkle so I paired the skirt with a simple chambray top, a little more shine with a statement necklace, and these $10 (!) Christian Siriano for Payless heels.

I purchased this Rebecca Minkoff mini m.a.c. crossbody right before our D.C. Thanksgiving trip as a little early birthday present to myself and absolutely love it. This top is from a recent T.J. Maxx visit in Cali and is so soft and comfy and looks much more expensive than its $20 price tag.

Since we moved to a small town, T.J. Maxx is definitely one of my top shopping spots, since I can find lots of variety and designer names for good prices. The one we visited in California, however, was so much better than ours–they even had similar Paige jeans to the ones I’m wearing here! I’ll keep checking ours every once in awhile just in case…
