If there was one trend lately that I was most on the fence about, it was the bodysuit. I mean, did I really want to wear a glorified leotard underneath my clothing? It turns out the answer to that question is an unequivocal yes.
At first, I really didn’t see the point of a bodysuit. Couldn’t I just tuck in my shirt and get the same effect? But after seeing them again and again, I decided to take the plunge and purchased a striped off the shoulder bodysuit that was on super sale from J.Crew because if there’s one way to approach a new trend, it’s when something is on sale. There’s no point spending a ton money on something that will just be relegated to the back of your wardrobe.
And then I tried it on. It did feel a little weird on it’s own, like I was some wannabe ballerina who was much too old and trying desperately to regain some part of my youth or something, but then I started playing around with pairing it with other items in my wardrobe and I was completely hooked – it looked good with everything!
Unlike when you tuck in a shirt, a bodysuit actually stays put and most importantly, hugs your body to show off your figure. I think it really lends itself to high waisted bottoms, like with these high waisted skinny jeans here or with a cute midi skirt.
It’s also perfect for layering underneath vests or blanket scarves, which makes it even more versatile for the fall and winter seasons. I’ve got my eye on a few new ones to add to my wardrobe, so I’m sharing below the bodysuits that I’m adding to my wish list to pick up this fall:
