This was one of the looks I received from my July Stitch Fix box (details here!) and I was so excited to have the opportunity to wear it while out in Charlottesville last weekend–it was the perfect date night look!

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is still open just for cardholders but items are already selling out pretty quickly. Today, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite outerwear picks for fall and winter–despite the 90 degree heat!
I just wanted to give everyone a head’s up that early access to the Nordstrom Anniversary sale starts today! This sale is special because instead of past season or poor selling items being discounted, Nordstrom significantly discounts new fall items for men, women, and kids for a limited amount of time. It’s the perfect time to pick up a few new quality pieces for fall and winter and to get a little Christmas shopping done.
I’ll be posting updates with some of my favorite items on sale throughout the next few weeks, but know that the most popular items will sell out pretty quickly. In order to get early access to the sale and shop before the general public, you just need a Nordstrom credit or debit card. Otherwise, the anniversary sale starts on Friday, July 22nd and ends on Monday, August 7th, and prices go back up on the 8th.
Nordstrom also offers free shipping and returns on every order with no minimum!
Let me know if you find any must have pieces while shopping!
However, Stitch Fix kept sending me e-mails about the higher end brands they’d added to their repertoire, so I started wondering just what a high end fix would actually look like.
For those of you who don’t know, Stitch Fix is an online shopping service where you fill out a style profile, pay $20, and then a stylist chooses clothing items based on your preferences and requests and ships them to you on the requested date. If you choose to keep something, you receive the $20 styling fee back in terms of $20 off the item purchased. If you happen to purchase all 5 items, you also receive 25% off your total purchase!
So, I let my stylist know that it was almost my wedding anniversary, so I wanted something special to wear plus emphasized that I liked higher end brands like Joie and Paper Crown and wouldn’t mind paying a little bit more for high quality pieces.
And here’s what I got:
Joie Alonzo Scoop Neck Silk Blouse ($158 retail). I’m a sucker for all things Joie and this top is no exception. I love that it can be dressed up and down and had fun mixing and matching it with the other items in my closet.
Yumi Kim Edythe Maxi Dress ($198 retail). This dress is absolutely gorgeous, but it was super long and I was a bit worried about getting the silk hemmed. Plus, one of the snaps had come loose, which would have been an easy fix, but it still wouldn’t have gotten enough use out of it to justify the cost.
Collective Concepts Ajuma Lace Overlay Top ($54 retail). I initially wasn’t too excited about this blouse but it definitely grew on me once I started playing around with pairing it would other items in my wardrobe.
Ella Moss Kimi Romper ($228 retail). This romper is everything! The quality is amazing and it looks so cute dressed up with heels or styled more casually. I can also see it being layered with a cami, tights, and booties for fall.
Sol Sana Rudey Leather Lace Up Heels ($140 retail). I wasn’t sure about the chocolate color of these with my pale skin at first but once I put them on, I completely fell in love. They’re so comfy and super high quality, and I know they will last forever.
It was a bit scary being that in love with everything at that price point, but since almost everything was a new arrival, I decided to keep everything to get the 25% off discount! Since the Yumi Kim maxi dress had fit issues, I found an amazing Stitch Fix Facebook group that allows you to sell your extra fix items and sold the dress in less than 24 hours to help pay for the rest of the fix. I also spent most of the weekend putting a ton of my wardrobe on sale on Poshmark too and ended up almost paying for the fix in a few days!
