Hi everyone–I’m Kelsey, welcome!!

Kelsey in the Kitchen

I began this blog to chronicle my last year living on the gorgeous California central coast. My husband and I moved there in 2006 to attend college at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo and after getting our Bachelors’, we decided we just couldn’t leave and headed back to school–him for his master’s and me for my teaching credential. But as the old adage goes, all good things must come to an end, and in 2012, we moved on to our next adventure in Blacksburg, Virginia for my husband to pursue his Ph.D.

My goal for this blog is to share with you what living locally is all about–fresh food, great beer and wine, friendly people, and an active lifestyle–through recipes, restaurants, traveling, activities, and so much more.

As a youngest child, I grew up avoiding the kitchen, and only recently discovered my love of cooking (my love of food has always been there!). Luckily, my husband, Jeff, is an only child who was forced to learn the ins and outs of the kitchen at an early age. So as you’ll notice from the posts, we tend to work as a team in our teeny tiny kitchen—sometimes me taking the lead, and sometimes him—as we utilize our different skill sets.

Most recently, I’ve added a home decor/DIY and clothing ideas section to the website as my interests have expanded and my writing continues to grow and change just as I do.

Thanks for joining me as we travel from coast to coast, exploring local food and most importantly, having way too much fun along the way!

Ahh, too funny! It’s been quite a change but we’re loving every minute of it. Although those photos on your blog made me feel pretty nostalgic! Good luck with your move!
