Fall decorating is always my absolute favorite. There’s just something about the combination of deep, rich colors, natural textiles, and layering of textures that makes me want to put up fall decor as soon as the school year starts again in September.
Of course, all of my fall decor I’ve collected over the years in home in Cali in boxes – Jeff joked that when we packed, we basically just packed boxes of themed months since we sold all of our furniture – so I’m living vicariously through other’s photos and home goods shopping online.
No surprise, Target is one of my favs for finding great fall decor items, along with West Elm, Cost Plus World Market, and TJ Maxx. TJ Maxx usually has great deals on mercury glass, which I love to add throughout my house as the season changes and then on into Christmas and winter as well.
When in doubt, think about combining rich textures – plaids, wools, etc. – to create a cozy look that makes you want to stay inside and drink chai by the fireplace. And maybe even save some time for a little DIY!
