On Saturday, we got another all day bus pass so we could spend the afternoon touring around another small neighboring town – Kenilworth.
The bus dropped us off near another gorgeous park – England does open spaces exceptionally well! We wandered down the path and found the ruins of the old priory before continuing up to the castle, both of which date back to the 1100s.
We didn’t go in the castle since it cost over 17 pounds per person but we subsequently learned that it is an English Heritage Site and you can access it for free with the membership fee, so we’ll definitely be back!
We had a quick picnic in the park before walking around the downtown main street, which wasn’t my favorite due to the narrow sidewalks and abundance of cars.
The side streets were fantastic, however, with tucked away alleyways and gorgeous facades to admire as you pass. We found a pub called Virgins and Castle (seriously!) that was built in the 1500s and settled into one of the many alcoves for a pint.
It was a fun day of exploring and with the town so close, we will definitely be back soon. We’ll be back in Leamington Spa this upcoming weekend for a Food & Drink Festival!
