Happy Friday, friends!
I hope you’ve been having a great week! I successfully arrived in Coventry, England on Tuesday night after a red-eye flight out of Oakland Monday and then a 5 hour bus ride from the London Gatwick airport. It was hot and humid when I first got here which made it feel like I was back in Virginia! Yesterday was beautiful, though, with partially sunny skies and a light breeze.
We don’t get internet installed at our new apartment until late next week, so I have to make the trek down to a local coffee stop in order to write, but I’m hoping to get back into the routine of daily posting starting on Monday.
On Wednesday, I bought an all day bus pass and went to IKEA twice and the grocery store, which pretty much took all day. Hauling everything back on the bus was definitely an adventure!
And then I spent the rest of the day cleaning up our apartment and putting things away. We have a 2 bedroom/1 bath, but every room is super compartmentalized (you can lock a door in each room!) and I keep walking into the wrong room haha. We got a few things set up but are trying to be careful about spending too much money, so only purchased the most basic of items so far.
We did manage to cook our first meal together in England – quinoa with egg, zucchini (courgettes, apparently!), carrots, and kale.
This weekend, we’re hoping to do a little local exploring and then head to a local car boot sale (England’s version of a garage sale!) at a nearby rugby field on Sunday to field a few more necessities.
I’ll try to touch base again on Monday – Instagram is easier at the moment to get momentary service enough to upload photos so follow along with my adventures there.
Have a wonderful weekend!
