Happy Monday, friends!
How was your weekend? We finally arrived in California on Saturday evening after leaving Virginia Tuesday morning! Traveling across country with two cats is definitely not my idea of vacation, but we listened to lots of podcasts (finally listened to seasons 1 and 2 of Serial) and listened to Stephen King’s The Gunslinger, which helped pass the time. It was super hot across most of the country, so we would take turns running into rest stops to use the bathroom or grab a snack while the other one would wait in the car with the cats in the air conditioning. We did get a break in Fort Collins, CO with my sister and her family which pretty much made the road trip worth it. Jeff leaves for England a week from tomorrow, but I’ll be in Cali for the next three weeks or so.
I sent all of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale haul home to California so I was greeted with about a million boxes when I arrived home Saturday night. I spent most of yesterday unpacking and going through everything so wanted to share with you what I ordered, what I decided to keep, and what I decided to return.
Rebecca Minkoff Embroidered Crossbody Bag. This bag was by far my biggest temptation of the sale and it is beyond gorgeous in person. However, I really don’t need another crossbody, even one with beautiful embroidery, so I had to return it.
BP Pocket Longsleeve Tee. This tee is perfect for fall layering but was big (this is a small) so size down. This color is sold out online so check your local stores.
Zella Live In Leggings in Maroon. I’d been wanting a pair of maroon leggings so I ordered these to see what I thought. The color is perfect but I just don’t love the feel of them. I know Zella leggings are constantly hyped as being just as good as Lululemon or elsewhere, but I find that they just don’t breathe quite as well as I want them to.
Natori Sublime Bra. I’m in desperate need of a new bra and this one had great reviews. However, the color (nude) was a little dark for me and I didn’t love the fabric.
Vince Camuto Karinta Bootie. These booties are stunning in person and if I could rock a 4 inch heel, they would have been in my closet. They’re very padded and comfy too, but my ankles just can’t handle the angle, so I knew I wouldn’t wear them.
Chelsea28 Olivia Faux Leather Tote. This tote is a great vegan option if that is something you’re searching for. It’s super cute in person but how are there no pockets?? I need an outside pocket at the very least for my phone – it does come with a pouch which is useful, but it doesn’t make up for the lack of pockets.
Articles of Society Sarah Skinny Jeans. I’ve also been searching for a new pair of jeans and these were the perfect price. The stretchy material reminds me of jeans I would have bought in middle school, however, so back they went.
Topshop Lattice Back Sweater. This was another item I was super excited for that fell short of expectations. The proportions were just odd and I would have had to get the sleeves hemmed. Plus, for the price, the fabric just felt kinda cheap.
Benefit Sizzlin’ Six Mini Best Sellers. This set had a few Benefit items I’d been wanting to try out so I jumped at the chance to order them in deluxe minis – already loving them!
Zella Cece High Waist Open Knee Leggings. I love a good ripped legging but again, not a huge fan of the Zella legging (I think I might be the only one- they have amazing reviews online!).
Articles of Society Mya Skinny Jeans. These jeans were the same as the ones above and had the same weird stretchy fit issues.
Barefoot Dreams Circle Cardigan. I was on the fence about ordering this since it’s expensive even on sale but there has been so much consistent hype about the “blardigan” (blanket/cardigan) over the past few years, that I decided to give it a try. It really is amazingly soft and warm and will be perfect for layering over PJs or on cool nights in England!
Barefoot Dreams Hooded Cardigan. I wanted to compare this cardigan with the one above (this one has a hood, the other one has pockets…) and the circle one won. This was so cozy too, but looked a little like a bathrobe on.
So that’s it – I only ended up keeping two items from the sale so my pocketbook is pretty happy!
