I’ve been eyeing these Mara Hoffman arcadia culottes in this gorgeous floral print for ages now but wasn’t sure if I wanted to spend the money on something that seems like more of a vacation style than practical for everyday wear (prints seem to be a trend this week though!). But for me, fashion isn’t always about doing what is most practical – sometimes it’s about choosing prints and styles that just make you happy, regardless of practicality or body type rules, etc. So when these culottes went on sale, I knew it was now or never because they were sure to sell out quickly.
Sure enough, the order I placed through Anthropologie was cancelled a day after placing it, but I was lucky to find another pair before they sold out elsewhere – the pair I’ve linked is still in stock but I’d act quickly if you’re interested!
Back to fashion rules – I often find myself scouring the internet for something I feel like I should have to my closet – a little black dress, a nude pump, etc. – and come close to purchasing items or do purchase items that seem to fill some gap I’m missing. This can work, but I’ve found that these items rarely become ones I reach for — they were missing from my wardrobe because I just don’t find the need to wear them, even if society says they’re something we should have!
Because of this, I’ve been trying to focus on purchasing items that make me happy or I just fall in love with when I try them on. I love these pants, they fit great, and make me smile so I know that I will actually get a lot of wear out of them, despite the tropical print and vacation style cut. So that’s my two cents on fashion styling, for the moment, at least!
