I cannot get enough of flowy, boho inspired items this summer and this Free People Dream Free Dress fits the bill perfectly! I wore it this past weekend on the first day of our Alexandria visit. I always think Blacksburg gets hot and humid during the summer but it was nothing compared to D.C. temps – it was difficult to even be outside for very long.
As you can probably see from the pictures, this dress is definitely on the shorter side and is actually supposed to be a tunic, so if you’re taller than my 5’4, you probably would want to wear it that way. I do have shorts on underneath! I actually wore this so that I could easily wear my Barre3 clothes underneath and then slip it back on once class was done to head out to dinner afterwards, which worked perfectly.
I also love that the print isn’t typical boho and has a bit more of an artsy flair, which makes it completely different from anything I currently own. It will pair well with leggings and half tucked into jeans in the fall too as an actual tunic once the weather cools back off (is that really ever going to happen??).
I’ll be heading back up to D.C. on Sunday with my mom and it’s supposed to be hot again, so I’ll be scouring my closet for similar outfits to stay cool while doing lots of walking – flat sandals are a must! I keep trying to wear heels and wedges this summer but somehow, never make it out the door with them on. I just hate sacrificing steps for shoes, even if I love them!
