Let’s face it, although the summer season usually brings some of my favorite outfits of the year, it’s also really easy to get in summer fashion rut. The hot (and humid here on the east coast!) days make it difficult to put too much effort into a look, opting instead for an easy shorts + tank top combo.
And I definitely find myself reaching for that combo a lot, so today, I thought I’d start with those elements–a simple jean short and a tank top–and then add elements that make this outfit a little more special.
First, the utility vest. I love that it gives the otherwise shapeless camisole some structure and that it’s lightweight enough that it doesn’t make you really any hotter.
Second, the color combo. Pink and green isn’t a color pairing I find myself reaching for a whole lot and I’m not really sure why because I love it here! Again, it’s another less expected twist and adds dimension to an otherwise simple outfit.
Third, the black leather espadrilles. Instead of reaching for flip flops, which I know we’re all too guilty of most of the time, choose a sandal with a bit more structure and substance. My feet swell pretty badly in the heat, so it’s important that I have shoes that breathe well, which these do.
Simple and easy, right?
