As we’re getting ready to pack up our household yet again this summer to move cross country and then on to England, I’ve been thinking a lot about what to take with us and what to leave behind/donate. We have a lot of kitchen gadgets that we’ve accumulated over the years, but seem to have four that we rely on the most:
Electric Tea Kettle. I have a cup of tea every morning when I work out and then we both often have cups of tea at night before we go to bed. An electric tea kettle is so much faster than a regular one and doesn’t take up valuable stove top space. Ours is glass too and looks nice enough to leave out on the counter.
Bread Machine. We inherited our bread machine from my husband’s grandmother and I had no idea it would become such a used appliance in our kitchen at the time. We make homemade pizza dough most weekends and bread most Sundays in the winter. Ours is old and bulky, so won’t be making the trip to England with us–I don’t know what we’re going to do without it!
Food Processor. From pesto to vegan treats like homemade energy bars, there are just some things that you can’t make without the power of a good food processor. We got ours when we got married and it’s been used pretty much weekly since then.
Nutribullet. I make smoothies pretty much every morning (or night to drink in the morning) and my high powered Nutribullet blender is my favorite, especially since I can just use the blending cup as my smoothie glass. It’s also great for making cashew cream sauce!
Honorary Mention: Le Creuset cast iron dutch oven. Our Le Creuset doesn’t have a plug but it is by far the most used item for cooking in our house since it can go from the stove to the oven for soups, roasting chicken, pasta, cooking beans, pretty much anything. They’re a bit pricy but will last a lifetime!
