Happy Monday, friends! How was your weekend? I got back late last night from a much needed restorative weekend of Barre3 + yoga at the Wanderlust festival in D.C.–details to come soon, I promise! In the meantime, since it’s already October, I wanted to share a few fall fashion tips today to kick off the week.
Fall has finally arrived, and I must admit that I’m definitely excited for the changing of the seasons. Not only will the leaves be beautiful this time of year, but I also adore the fashion that comes along with it. The weather is perfect for layering and experimenting with some of the latest trends. And in case you need a little help deciding what to wear, I have a few suggestions that I think you’ll enjoy as much as I do.
The classic pattern seems to never go out of style, or at least if it does, it’s not for very long. Fortunately, you can pull those plaid printed pieces back out of the closet again this season and pair them with a variety of looks. Fashion Gone Rogue took the trend report straight from the fashion week runways, proving that this print may have had a checkered past (pun intended), but the future’s looking bright. I’m loving the look of the tried-and-true Burberry style scarf, a scotch plaid flannel with jeans, or something more structured, like a plaid blazer.
This trendy jacket has taken the fashion world by storm, and I’m so glad it did. This is a great-looking addition to your fall wardrobe that’s easy to wear and goes with nearly everything. You can choose from dressier styles, like satin and lace, or opt for classics made from leather and other materials. Either way, there’s a bomber jacket for every taste and style. Luckily, all you have to do is throw one of these on over whatever you’re wearing—cocktail dresses included—and you’ll look instantly more stylish as you head out the door.
These go-with-everything shoes seem to never go out of style, and that’s perfectly fine with me. The type I’d recommend this season, however, are a tad more ornate than the plain-Jane types. The style I’m referring to is the wrap ankle boot, and as Cosmopolitan so cleverly pointed out, the wrap detail emphasizes your ankle. The ankle is like the waist of your lower leg—something you never want to miss out on accentuating! So take it from me (and them), and try the ankle wrap boots with all of the pieces you’d normally pair them with. From sweater dresses to jeans, you can’t go wrong.
Top Notch Trousers
Lyst’s style experts suggest trousers for fall, but not just any old pants. No, these bad (in a really good way) bottoms that I’m referring to have special embellishments, silhouettes, and more. From ultra wide leg pants made from crepe, to floral macrame trousers, each and every one is a beautiful option for autumn. Try them on for size with platform booties, a fitted blouse, sleek coat, and your favorite felted hat. Or, another great way to style these unique trousers is by pairing them with something unexpected, like a chunky knit sweater and ankle boots. Whichever way you decide to rock ’em, you’re sure to stand out from the crowd.
With so many awesome trends and fall classics to choose from, it’s difficult to decide, but I hope this post has taken some of the guesswork out of what to wear. No one needs to be stressing out at the beginning of fall, unless you’re already working on that holiday shopping list, so pick and choose your favorites and make them work for you. Great together or alone, all four of these ideas are totally wearable and on-trend.
