Happy last day of August! How did that happen already?
Breakfast is hands down my favorite meal of the day and while I often stick to my standard smoothie on weekdays, my husband and I typically go all out for brunch on the weekends and try to sneak in breakfast burritos or frittatas for dinner during the week as well.
And while I’m definitely a savory breakfast girl, I love making more dessert style breakfasts as snacks or maybe as second breakfast as well (thank you LOTR), especially when they are still on the healthier side, like these cacao almond butter acai bowls.
Until recently, I’d only stuck with the fruit side of acai bowls and I must say, I’m a bit obsessed with this decadent chocolate version. The honey, shredded coconut, and extra cacao nibs (because, chocolate) added on top totally take it to the next level.
If you’re looking for more sweet, dessert style breakfast inspiration, these greek yogurt chocolate banana muffins and churro french toast recipes are totally on my must make next list. For more inspo, this round-up about legit ways to eat chocolate for breakfast and this list of top Pinterest breakfast dessert recipes (breakfast popsicles?? Yes, please!) totally has my mouth watering for the weekend.
