We were lucky enough to make it back to SLO for the second time in a little less than a year, this time for our friends’ wedding. It was even more exciting because the last time I’d been there, I’d been in the initial stages of my yet to be diagnosed post concussive syndrome and was pretty out of it. Hooray for healing!
I left Friday afternoon immediately after work and was supposed to land at the SLO airport at 10pm that night, but unfortunately, my first flight out of Roanoke was delayed, and I had to spend the night in Phoenix before catching a flight in the next morning. While it was frustrating, I had amazing sight lines of the entire coast line as we flew into San Luis Obispo–almost making it worth the wait!
I was obsessed with the farmhouse decor on the inside too–can we paint all of our doors like this? And that kitchen!
This dress was a TJ Maxx (Cynthia Rowley) find from a few months ago–perfect for a SLO event and paired with my new fav Anthropologie chambray top once the sun started to go down.
After the dinner that night, I just had to take a few moments to breathe in the cool, crisp air that I used to take for granted when I lived there and watch the sunset over the hills and fog bank. I felt so grateful and blessed to be there after this crazy year and thankful to have learned to appreciate peaceful, unplugged moments like that.
The next morning, we headed out for a quick walk on Pismo Beach–it has been a long time since I’ve been there on a sunny morning!–before scarfing down brunch at Custom House in Avila Beach and hitting the road up to NorCal to visit family.
It will be our five year wedding anniversary next month, so it only seemed fitting to be able to squeeze in the SLO trip. Now we just need an excuse to get back there soon!
