This skirt was one of my first purchases to feed my J.Crew Factory obsession. As much as I love love love that site, I hate that I can’t wait like I normally do until things go on sale because everything sells out so gosh darn quickly. However, I was able to snag this skirt on somewhat clearance while still living in Cali, I believe.
I’m a bit obsessed with the colors of it–the soft blues and white–and the light cotton, almost linen-like quality of the material. However, the elastic waistband and flared skirt always makes me question how to pull it off with other items, you know, so I’m not leaving the house in just a cute skirt. That would be a bit awkward. It’s a bit too short to wear at my natural waist, yet when I wear it at my hips, it looks really strange with an untucked shirt or even with a completely tucked in skirt.
Solution? I pulled the skirt up so that it sits between by hips and natural waist which makes it a tad bit shorter than I’d normally like, but I can deal, especially on these hot, humid summer days. Then, I went for a loose tuck in of a white tank to add some balance.
I purchased this white tank at Target one afternoon while trying to pair something with my new Gap printed shorts (here and here) and am completely obsessed with the crochet details on the back. And yes, my swimmer’s back has never quite gone away, despite having rarely gone to the pool for years!
