Happy 4th of July everyone!
Things are finally getting back to normal around here: suitcases are unpacked, copious amounts of laundry have been completed, some writing has been accomplished… time to relax and celebrate the 4th!
For most of my childhood, 4th of July was spent at our cabin by Mt. Lassen in Northern California watching the parade full of logging trucks and local Shriner’s. In fact, this may be the first 4th I’ve spent away from the cabin in years–and definitely the first in Virginia!
I’m praying to the weather gods that it will stop raining here enough to have a small barbecue with some friends tonight. It seems a bit ironic that while most of my family suffers from the crazy west coast heat wave, we on the east coast are drowning in the rain. I’m not sure either group will really be able to celebrate too much!
But if we somehow can squeeze in a quick party, this is what I’m planning on wearing: my favorite Gap printed shorts (in blue this time), my one and only (so far) Stitch Fix purchase, and my go-to summer rose gold sandals. The 4th of July just begs for color/pattern mixing, don’t you think?
