Happy Friday folks!
I am so looking forward to this weekend! No, not because we have anything really exciting planned but to me, Memorial Day weekend always seems the the summer kick-off and man, am I looking forward to summer. I’m also no longer cooking for one as Jeff is finally home after a long week away at a conference in Ithaca. Cooking is so much more fun when you have someone to share it with!
But speaking of dinner for one, some time ago, Jeff had another work event thing, but since it was Friday night, I decided to go out to dinner all by myself, something I’m not sure I’ve ever done before! You all know Mexican food is my greatest love and weakness, so I decided to get a little exercise in/not feel so guilty about consuming so much food by walking all the way down Main Street to the newish El Rodeo at the First & Main shopping center here in Blacksburg.
Of course, the place was absolutely packed, so after spending a few minutes casing the restaurant (awkward much?), a lovely employee offered me a margarita while I waited for a spot at the bar. After a few minutes of sipping and waiting, the same lovely employee grabbed an extra seat out of the back and made me a spot at the bar, so I could sit down and eat–talk about service!
While the margaritas are certainly cheap, they are made with a pretty sugary mix. But since I can’t be on the balcony of The Cliffs, I’ll take what I can get.
I ended up ordering the vegetarian entree C: a bean burrito, cheese quesadilla, and chalupa for $6.99–hungry much?
The food is definitely authentic, but I still miss my California-style burritos and other food. But it makes a tasty, inexpensive meal–and you can’t beat that service!
You can find more about El Rodeo on their website here.
