Yeah, yeah I know it’s Tuesday, and I normally talk about home-y things, but I’ve kinda been in a decorating rut until I can finally do some spring cleaning and decor planning during spring break (2 more weeks!). You’ll forgive me this once, won’t you?
So instead, I decided to do TWO outfit posts this week which I must admit, I’m kinda excited for. First off: The Cape, aka the wintery outfit I wanted to show you last week, chickened out because I thought it was too warm and springy outside for a winter look, only to have it snow that very same day. So, warm or cold wherever you are, you get it this week!
I feel in love with the look of capes this fall as they were showing up everywhere in the fall magazine fashion line-up. I love the unexpected yet still so classic look to them, and the fact that it looks like you can just hide inside and be all warm and cozy, which is how all fashion should be right?
Unfortunately, the trendiness of capes has definitely pushed up the price, and I struggled for forever to find one at a decent price. Finally, when I’d pretty much stopped looking, I stumbled into the perfect houndstooth plaid one in Talbot’s. It was the last one left–and in my size–and I was giddy as I carried it off to the dressing room to see if it fit. It did, but I still texted a picture to my mom to make sure I didn’t look absolutely crazy. She assured me that I didn’t (thanks mom!), so I happily purchased it and haven’t looked back since!
I was even more excited to come across this picture of fashion inspiration Kate Middleton wearing a similar cape, so I decided to copy her always classic take on the look!
