Happy first day (and first Friday!) of March!
Do you have any weekend plans yet? I already know that I’m going to be swamped with work stuff all weekend, so I’ll just have to live vicariously through the amazing 3-Day weekend I had last weekend.
We headed back to Floyd to celebrate Jeff’s birthday–it was almost impossible to believe that it had been October since we had first been! And like last time, we got a little lost on our way to finding all of our destinations…hopefully we’ll be back again soon to redeem ourselves! We had been planning to check out a different winery in the area, but when we discovered it was closed, we decided to head back to Chateau Morissette to give it another shot at impressing (should have called, I suppose!).
And luckily, this time we got an amazing pourer who chatted away and made our time so much more enjoyable than the last…I’m so glad we went back to give it another shot!
For dinner, we decided to head back into the actual town of Floyd to check out a wonderful little eatery we had stumbled into the last time we had been to: Dogtown Roadhouse. The restaurant itself is actually one part of the Sun Music Hall, a local community performing venue.
The owners turned the front of the music hall into a small pizza eatery, complete with a gorgeous pizza oven, and focusing on using the best local ingredients available. According to their website,
Dogtown hand crafts every pizza using local and organic ingredients. The dough is prepared using cold fermentation with a wild yeast starter. The sauce is made of organic tomatoes and fresh herbs. The meats and vegetables are sourced from local farms and prepare by hand. Using old world style methods, pizzas are cooked in a wood fired oven at temperatures near 1000 degrees.

Salad–by the far the best I’ve had since moving!
I can honestly say Dogtown Roadhouse was some of the best, if not the best, most California and SLO-like food I’ve had since moving to the area. We can’t wait to come back!
