Happy last day of February, friends!
Today, I wanted to talk about trouser jeans. I picked up my first pair on sale a few years ago at Banana Republic, but they never really got much use until I started working full time. They were just a tad too fancy for my every day life (and didn’t show off socks well either!).
Now, however, I wear that same pair at least once a week, and they’ve become a true staple in my wardrobe. They’re the ultimate casual professional item and since I work in an environment that fits that very description. They’re perfect for those midweek days when I’m feeling like a little more comfort is needed to get me through my day.
I do usually try to pair them with a dressier top or blazer to balance out the fact that they are still jeans. They are also hemmed to wear boots with a bit of a heel which dresses up the look a bit. Since these have gotten so much wear, I am on the look out for a pair to hem to wear with flats as well, so I can make the look more versatile.
When you’re shopping for the perfect trouser jean, look for a pair with a darker wash and clean lines (no distressing!). You also want them to create a straight line from your thigh down to your shoes to create that trouser-like appearance. Banana Republic has always been my go to for staples like this, but you may have to shop around to find the perfect fit (jean shopping…).
