Happy Valentine’s Day friends!
If I was planning on going out tonight, this is probably what I’d be wearing. But instead, I think that I’ll be heading to the gym for a nice grueling session of Body Combat and then come home to this or maybe this and eat way more calories than I burned off and watch Glee with the husband. That sounds like a pretty great Valentine’s Day to me!
If you’ve followed the blog for awhile, it should be no secret that I used to work at the best sock store in the world, The Sock Drawer, when I lived in SLO. And let’s just say that I have A LOT of fun and crazy and pretty and practical socks and tights from those years… When I used to work at the store, one of my favorite parts was creating an entire outfit all around my favorite pair of socks of the week. It could have been a pair of colorful striped knee-his, patterned tights, holiday crews, or what this outfit was inspired by, wool cashmere over the knee socks, pretty much one of the best things ever. (If you’re wondering, I do have a favorite sock brand!)
Even after moving across country and leaving the sock business behind (tear), I still find myself building outfits around socks maybe out of nostalgia or because they’re just so gosh darn cute.
Knee high boots with over the knee socks are a must and due to the below freezing daily temperatures around here, layering them with tights is also a must. I actually layered these with footless tights to allow more room in my boots for the thicker socks. And after the socks were decided, the outfit just pretty much fell into place from there. You know its going to be a good day when you create an outfit around socks!
Are you planning on dressing up and going out tonight?

very cute outfit!
What kind of socks do you recommend if your feet are ALWAYS cold? Seems to be the case for me lately
Smartwool are Definitely the best. They’re expensive ($12-$20) a pair but last forever. Plus the wool is pre-treated so its not itchy. I don’t wear anything else in the winter!
LOVE the socks poking out! How do you get them to not slip down your leg?

Thanks! Unfortunately, over the knee socks are prone to slipping. The only way I know to keep them in place is just to stand still!
Wait, you mean there are people who don’t plan their outfits around their socks? No way.
Miss you Kelsey — come back!! Fremont theater opened back up today ; )
I know, right? Miss you too!!
