So I actually wrote this post to you once, you just don’t know it. I came home from work Tuesday night totally exhausted but excited to start writing my 3rd (almost feeling like I’m getting the hang of this!) outfit post and was just adding the final touches when wham! the computer stops working. When I finally got everything back up and running, everything. was. gone. Tear. After spending a few hours minutes mourning my loss, I told myself to get over it and move on. So here we are and hopefully, besides this little anecdote, you’ll never even notice that something was ever amiss.
If you have been following this blog for awhile, you’ll know I can be a bit of a crazy planner. I love sitting down either with pen and paper or my iPad or whatever I can get my hands on and mapping out my weekend plans, meal plans, and yep, even outfits. In fact, I drive myself a bit crazy at times doing this because as much as I try to pretend I’m a type A perfectionist, my own imperfections always remind me that that is never going to happen.
But, to feed incessant planning habits, I downloaded a clothing iPhone app–Closet Organized–just to drive myself a bit more crazy than usual. So, one Saturday morning, I spent about 4 hours photographing my entire wardrobe and organizing it into categories: sweaters, shoes, necklaces, belts, vests, and so on. I did mention I’m a tad bit crazy, right? And now, whenever I buy something, I simply take a picture and add it to my collection. Easy.
Though the app is pretty basic, the best features are the fact that I can organize outfits by season or really any category I create. I can also plan ahead and set certain outfits up for certain days, make packing lists, and for a little extra inspiration, I can even hit the “random” button to generate a whole new world of possibilities.
It’s also great for when I’m watching TV or browsing Pinterest (follow me here!) and come across an outfit with similar items I might have in my closet. I can recreate it on the spot without having to open my closet and actually try on clothes. Pretty great if you ask me!
Sometimes, though, my outfit planning can get me into a bit of trouble, especially when I’m really excited about an outfit and refuse to change it for any reason. Take this weekend for example. I knew what I wanted to wear to Charlotte for weeks but when the day rolled around, it was 72 freaking degrees in the middle of January. But, true to my plan, I decided to wear my riding boots, flannel long sleeve tee, and puffer vest. I made it about 5 minutes in the car before I had to start peeling off layers as the trip went on. But gosh darn it, I wore that outfit!
Do you plan outfits? Or just throw on amazing things last minute?
Riding Boots, $90 (similar, similar)
Navy Puffer Vest, $40
Straight Leg Jeans, $40
PS: I purchased many of these items on sale so shop around before you settle!
