Happy Friday everyone!
And an especially happy Friday to me because I have the day off! I’m planning on spending it at the dentist and getting my oil changed in the morning (fun, right?) before spending the afternoon cooking and perhaps even heading here in the late afternoon. And then tomorrow, we are actually heading to Charlotte–I can’t wait! Of course, we do have to make it home in time to watch the 49ers game, but hopefully I can drag Jeff out of bed at a decent hour to have a good amount of time in the city. Have any of you ever been to Charlotte before? Anything we absolutely have to do? Or eat? Or drink?? Let me know!
One of the restaurants in Blacksburg that we frequent often is The Cellar. The street level part of the restaurant is pretty crowded with tables but lends itself to a fun, family atmosphere while the “cellar” or basement, is the dark, but still fun, bar area. They also have a “6-Pak” store where you can go pick and choose your own 6-pack of beer in their market area.
One of the things I’ve definitely noticed is that people love their Greek food around here–it’s everywhere! Which is great for someone like me, who not only is obsessed with tzatziki, but tries to eat vegetarian whenever possible. So, the last time we were there, I ended up ordering the Greek Veggie Sandwich with grilled artichoke hearts, spinach, broccoli, sauteed onions, black olives, green peppers, feta cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, and tzatziki sauce.
It also came with an almost overwhelming number of salty potato chips which, of course, I took as a challenge. And I won. Or lost, I suppose, depending on your perspective.
Jeff also got a sandwich, the Greek Gyro Sub.
In addition to sandwiches, they also have lots of italian food like pasta and pizza, as well as some pretty darn good looking entree salads as well.
