Happy Friday everyone!
I made it through my first (half) week back at work. When does the next vacation start? I kid. Sorta. It was nice to settle back into a routine, but things are definitely going to picking up around here for awhile. I’m also considering joining the gym next weekend since I’m not sure running in the almost-dark when it’s 20 degrees outside is really going to happen very often. I put up a good effort, at least.
This weekend, we’re headed down to Charlotte, North Carolina for a little IKEA trip thanks to some generous gift cards we received for Christmas to purchase a
real bed futon for our guest bedroom. Goodbye air mattress! It will be my first trip to North Carolina-anywhere we should visit along the way?
For New Year’s Eve Monday night, Jeff and I decided to head to a bar that was close enough to walk home without completely freezing since snow was in the forecast that night. So we settled on a spot we had visited for my birthday: 622 North. Well, technically, we went to Frank’s Bar at 622 North since the restaurant itself wasn’t open, and we were looking for a place to hole up for a few hours. With an extensive list of beers on tap, Franks’ Bar has been about as close as we’ve found to Spikes here in Blacksburg, and I have just an inkling of a feeling that it will become our regular beer drinking spot. Just maybe. Overall, it was the perfect place to ring in the new year in a new state on a new coast!
In addition to the restaurant and bar, the location also houses a wine lounge which I’m hoping to be able to visit soon ;)
According to their website,
622 North is housed in a large, recently renovated Victorian building inBlacksburg’s historic Downtown District. We offer an eclectic assortment of meals for lunch and dinner with influences from many regions of the world. We also offer several daily specials for lunch and dinner which can be enjoyed a la carte or as three course meal. All of our meals are made to order and are from the freshest ingredients.
The last time we were there, we tried their sandwiches which were some of the best I’ve had since moving here. I can’t wait to go back to try more of the menu and continue to explore that beer list!
You can read more about 622 North on their website here.
