New River Valley | The River Company

I’ve decided to make saturdays the one day of the week where I just have fun and get out and do something in the world. Wasn’t that the whole point when I started this blog in the first place? We had grandiose plans of going apple picking and wine tasting, but after the realization hit that I’m going to be back in Cali all next weekend, we decided we’d better balance the fun with the to-do list like cleaning and grocery shopping…

So we decided to head about 20 minutes down the road to Radford and the River Company, a brewery and restaurant right on the New River.

The building was absolutely gorgeous. I felt like I was back in Park City at a swanky boutique lodge. And the view from the outside deck wasn’t any worse.

We decided to sit outside despite the fact that it was cooling off, and we could see thunderstorms in the distance…and lasted about 20 minutes before moving inside. Fun fact: we sat at 4 different tables while we were there–2 outside and 2 inside–we’re just high maintenance like that.

They had a great tasting flight at $1/4oz taster, so Jeff and I decided to split one and a pulled pork sandwich…definitely falling off the no pork bandwagon. Bad Kelsey!

Their Dumpster Dog Porter was perfect for the chilly, overcast day.

We took a growler for the road (and by road, I mean for dinner that night, folks ;) ).

And so our first local brewery trip in the area was a success–here’s to many more to come!
