Happy Friday friends!
When we were researching where to move for grad school, one of my top priorities was the quality of farmer’s markets in the area, so I was beyond excited when I discovered that Blacksburg had an entire website devoted to their fabulous market!
Right now, the market runs every Wednesday afternoon from 2pm-7pm and every Saturday morning from 8pm to 2pm, so I’ve been making it a priority to visit at least once a week. Although the actual market area is much smaller than what I was used to in SLO, the quality of produce is just the same, so I’m a pretty happy camper.
On Saturdays, when I usually go, the place is always packed with locals shopping produce, local meats, eggs, butter, baked goods, and herbs.
The market also hosts fun seasonal events like tomato tastings, squash festivals, apple tastings, and more. I haven’t made it to a tasting yet, but I’m hoping to soon. This weekend there was even a craft fair!
I was also surprised to learn that the market is open year round–I see lots of kale and chard soups in my future!
