Happy Friday everyone!!
Next Door Bake Shop is an adorable local bakery and coffee shop that Jeff and I stumbled into on one of our first days in Blacksburg. We were at the Steppin’ Out craft fair and walked by a stand offering free samples of their chocolate chip scones–how could we resist that? I mean, it’s not like we make chocolate chip cookies every other night or anything… Shockingly, we ended up buying a scone for breakfast the next morning (I think we made it 2 blocks before it was gone…), and I immediately went home to do a little more research.
Turns out they also serve breakfast, lunch, and coffee, so we decided to take Jeff’s Dad there for breakfast when he was in town visiting last weekend. Although the store itself is located just off the main downtown strip, the cozy, family-friendly inside definitely make it worth a trip.
The cupcakes looked amazing, but since it was 9am, I decided I needed to hold off until next time (I’ve been craving them ever since!). We ended up ordering off their breakfast menu–I got a blueberry bagel with cream cheese, my fav:
And Jeff got an egg and bacon bagel, kind of like the eggels we used to get at Nautical in SLO.
Aren’t the plates adorable?
Plus, the bakery has free w-fi and comfy couches, so you know once school starts up again, it’s going to be packed with college students. As soon as my laptop actually becomes a laptop again, aka I finally suck it up and buy a new battery, I think I might just have to join them. After all, there’s nothing like a cupcake for a little blogging inspiration!
