Our 2nd Anniversary!

by on July 10, 2012

Today’s our second wedding anniversary! Jeff and I are headed up to Lake Tahoe for a quick overnight trip to celebrate which should be perfect. I started the blog after our wedding and first anniversary, so I thought it would be fun to take a trip down memory lane and relive some of the highlights of our big day. And most importantly, to revisit the amazing food!

We got married on Saturday, July 10th, at Holland Ranch in San Luis Obispo. We knew we wanted to get married at a barn, but were having trouble finding the right balance between rustic and comfort until we found Holland Ranch–a paved, enclosed barn area with an outdoor, grassy ceremony site underneath a gorgeous mountain.

Even though both of our families live in northern california, we really wanted to get married in SLO because, as you know by now, that’s where we really started life together, and it just wouldn’t have felt right not to solidify our relationship in that setting.

The barn itself had a funky western feel to it with neon lights, animal heads, and old signs.

We decided to do a buffet style dinner with classic barbecue items: barbecue chicken and tri-tip, baked beans, cornbread, and vegetarian couscous. Our caterer, Two Cooks Catering, really focused on using fresh, local ingredients whenever possible which was one of the major reasons we decided to choose them to cook for the wedding.

They also made our wedding topper and cupcakes. I might be just a bit biased, but I think it was some of the best wedding food I’ve ever tasted!

We even got the groomsman to wear socks from The Sock Drawer!

To keep the cost down, I devoted about 6 months to DIY projects and shopping around to get the best prices possible–from save the dates to candle holders out of tin cans to programs. In fact, I think my desire to start blogging began way back then as I would scour the internet for ideas! Overall, it definitely turned into the best event I think it possibly could have been!

Happy anniversary babe!
