Taco Roco is a local “chain” Mexican food restaurant with 9 locations on the central coast and 3 here in San Luis Obispo.
When we used to live on the other side of town, we would go to the location on Santa Rosa St. all the time. I’ve always loved the food, but was never impressed with the restaurant itself. It’s a tiny hole-in-the-wall place that could use some updating and a good hard scrubbing. And since it’s near most of the off-campus housing, it’s always packed with college students. When we moved to the other side of town, I was completely shocked when I walked into their Broad St. location for the first time–it’s huge, clean, and definitely family friendly. Talk about a big difference!
Since we found the nicer location, Taco Roco has become our go-to place for Mexican food take-out or quick, inexpensive eat-in dining. Can you guess what my favorite thing to order is? You got it–bean and cheese burritos! Sometimes I even mix it up and get a little rice and pico de gallo in it. I know, super adventurous of me. The burritos are huge and only $3.25 for a bean/cheese–score!
Jeff loves their cheese enchiladas, as featured in this major fail post.
They also make great carnitas tacos and have a $1/taco deal on Taco Tuesday (as shown in the picture above!).
Is it normal that I’m starting to get a little depressed and nostalgic writing this post? Taco Roco, you will be missed!
