The Sea Venture hotel & restaurant looks pretty unassuming from the outside, but it’s one of my favorite sites on Pismo Beach–I love seeing it get closer and closer when I run on the beach after work because that means it’s almost time to turn around and head back the other way!
But like many things in life, looks can be deceiving! The restaurant is on the top floor of the hotel and has some of the best views in the area. We actually went there a month or so ago when Jeff’s family was in town visiting, but it was way too dark inside and my pictures didn’t turn out. Luckily, we went back again last week when my parents were in town, so I get to share it with you now!
We got to the restaurant a little early and decided to head out to the outdoor patio to have a cocktail before dinner. The patio had a cozy little lounge area in the corner that we promptly laid claim to–it felt like we were in Hawaii! (Well, almost!). The inside is a bit dated, but still clean and tastefully done and most seats have gorgeous views of the ocean. We liked that you also had a great view of the busy beach which made for great dinner time people watching!
Did I mention the food is also amazing? Because it is. The first time I was there, I ordered the salmon and it was to die for. This time, I went with a slightly lighter option: clam chowder and a caesar salad. Yum!
Jeff and my Dad got the pork chop with “with loaded mashed potatoes, haricot vert, french fried onions and garlic cream sauce.”
And my Mom got the clam chowder and shrimp salad: mixed field greens tossed with avocado, red onion, bacon, asparagus, corn,
roma tomatoes, stilton blue cheese crumbles and honey cilantro Dijon vinaigrette.
They also had red and white wine flights for $10 for 3 decently sized pours. Jeff and I split one and were definitely happy with the quality, amount, and price!
Because we weren’t absolutely stuffed (aka we couldn’t resist), we ordered a warm apple crostada to share for dessert. I wish I had a picture, but we were a little too occupied devouring it as fast as we could!
Both visits were definitely great experiences and one I hope to have again soon! You can read more about the restaurant and their menu here.
