I’d seen Bayside Cafe pretty much every time I’d visited Morro Bay, but for some reason, I’d never given much thought to eating there. It has a beautiful location–right on the harbor–and I guess I just assumed it would be a bit too expensive for us, even for lunch.
But, my parents were in town visiting, so we headed over to Morro Bay for a little morning walk. We just happened to park right next to the restaurant and decided to check it out as a lunch possibility. Once we saw the menu, we were hooked–fish and chips, clam chowder, Mexican food, salads–all for reasonable prices. Guess I should have looked a little closer the last few times!
We seem to always manage to get warm, beautiful weather whenever we visit Morro Bay (I’m beginning to think I’ve been fooled this entire time and it’s actually always like that!), so we decided to sit outside on their back patio to enjoy the afternoon. I ended up getting
a bit a lot more sun than I needed, but the food was absolutely worth it.
I ordered the tuna sandwich ($9) which was one of the best tuna sandwiches I’d had in awhile.
My dad ordered the large order of fish and chips ($14) and my mom order the veggie tostada ($9). The fish was cooked perfectly–lightly battered and fried so it didn’t taste greasy or heavy, but at the same time, it had enough breading to hold the fish together and create a nice crunchy layer.
I know I’ll definitely be back before we leave! You can check out more about Bayside Cafe and their menu here.
