This smoothie is one of my favorite afternoon snacks. I’ve never really been a fan of regular milk, but somehow, I’ve always loved chocolate milk. I used to pick up one of the small ones at Trader Joe’s every week as a treat, and my parents even gave me a whole Costco sized packed of the Horizon organic version for Christmas one year. Yep, that obsessed. However, milk and my stomach have never really gotten along very well so for the past few years I’ve relied on soymilk, and now almond milk, to fill my chocolate milk void.
On it’s own, chocolate almond milk can have a bit of a chalky flavor, so I like to add it to smoothies for a little pick-me-up treat. Add a banana, creamy greek yogurt and it’s almost like a milkshake!
A much healthier milkshake–one 160z serving as about 260 calories, 3 grams of fat, 11 grams of protein, although it does have a lot of sugar–36 grams.
So while it may not be a smoothie you want to eat everyday, it definitely trumps ice cream or milkshakes when you’re craving something a little sweet!
